Robert Lawrence Stine began his writing career when he was nine years old and today he has achieved the position of the best selling children's author in history. Stine, born in Columbus, Ohio, began writing short stories, joke books, and comic books for his friends, and he has devoted his adult life to getting kids to enjoy reading and involving them in the fun and creativity of writing. In the early 1990's, Stine was catapulted to fame when he penned the unprecedented best-selling GOOSEBUMPS series, which sold more than 220 million copies and was instrumental in bringing boys back to reading. His other major series, FEAR STREET has over 80 million copies sold, and in 1999, Stine's volume of stories, NIGHTMARE HOUR was on The New York Times bestseller list. Most recently, R.L. Stine has teamed up with HarperCollins Publishers to launch his brand-new series, THE NIGHTMARE ROOM.
